UTC Sabah to further boost govt delivery (Daily Express)

Published on: Friday, January 10, 2014 (Daily Express)

Kota Kinabalu: The Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) Sabah, which houses over 40 State and Federal departments and agencies at Wisma UTC (formerly Wisma Khidmat) here, is set to further boost the government delivery system in the State.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to officially open this centre, situated along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman just next to Menara Petronas, soon. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, who announced this in a press conference after his working visit to the centre on Thursday afternoon, also expressed satisfaction over the setting as well as service operations there.
"I am very satisfied with what I have observed and briefed during my visits to all the departments, agencies and other government entities operating at this centreÉI have also received feedback from the rakyat I met and talked to who are very happy with the UTC," he said.
"This clearly proves that the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) always provides the comfort and convenience for people of all walks of life, old and young, who have dealings with government entitiesÉI hope the people would make full use of all the service facilities provided at this centre," he added.
Assuring that further improvement would continue to be done on whichever area or aspect deemed needed for the purpose at the centre for the benefit of all, Musa said this includes providing more public car parks there.
He said he had also discussed with the Sabah Credit Corporation (SCC), which is the property owner, on the possibility of making use of a vacant space close by for the purpose (car parks).
Prior to his visit to all the departments and agencies as well as other government related entities at the centre, the Chief Minister and his entourage were also briefed by the SCC CEO Datuk Vincent Pung on the operations at the centre.
Musa was accompanied by Special Tasks Minister Datuk Teo Chee Kang, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Edward Yong Oui Fah, State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman and State Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib, among others.

UTC gets over 13,000 visitors in two weeks (Daily Express)

Published on 31 Dec 2013 (Daily Express)

Kota Kinabalu: The Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) providing services to those too busy to seek them during the day like renewal of passports has already recorded over 13,000 visitors within two weeks of opening its doors.
The Sabah UTC which houses 37 Federal and State agencies is equipped with a library, clinic, ATM machines, post office, cafeteria and a sundry shop. It is open from 8am to 10pm daily (except public holidays).
Located along Jalan Belia, off Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, here, it began operations on Dec. 16.
A 75-year-old retiree, who only wanted to be known as Chin, said the centre was indeed people-friendly and convenient for the public.
"Many people have no time to go about their personal errands due to their busy working schedule. But now, with this facility available, they can come here at night.
"The location is very convenient and there is ample parking space, unlike before, where people had to rush their during lunch break and even getting parking space was very difficult," said Chin, who was accompanied by his wife and daughter.
Another visitor, 22-year-old Cecilya Henry, a bank teller, agreed that the centre is very convenient particularly for those working during the day, adding that the customer service was also excellent.
The Sabah UTC is the fifth such centre in Malaysia and more would be introduced in all major cities in every state. The first was in Melaka which was chosen as the first pilot location.
It provides a centralised one-stop centre as part of the Blue Ocean Strategy to improve the quality of government services through strategic partnerships between the various government agencies and private sectors.
The Sabah UTC has two buildings. One is the 10-storey Menara UTC which has a meeting room. This is also where the post office and 25 government agencies and departments are housed.
The other agencies found here are: Sabah Credit Corporation, Immigration Department, National Registration Department, Land Public Transport Commission, Telekom, Water Department, SME Bank;
Ar-Rahnu, Yayasan Usaha Maju, Road Transportation Department,
Public Complaints Bureau, Land and Survey Department, State Islamic Affairs Department Sabah Foundation, City Hall, Inland Revenue Board, E-Perolehan, Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad, Majlis Amanah Rakyat
Tekun Malaysia, Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, Socso, Jobs Malaysia, Manpower Department and Sabah Job Centre.
The other is the three-storey Wisma UTC where visitors may find the 1Malaysia Clinic, a cafeteria, Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia, library, a police beat base and the Food Quality and Safety Division.
Here visitors may find the: Federal Agricultural and Marketing Authority Senior Citizens Recreational Centre, Women's Welfare Department
Welfare Department, CafŽ @ Teen National Population and Family Development Board, Welfare Department (Taska)
Sabah Volunteers Centre and Youth and Sports Ministry.
